Apple Inc. will escape the brunt of new U.S. tariffs targeting Indian-made goods, according to WHITE House officials. The tech giant's semiconductor-powered devices, including iPhones, won't be subject to the 25% reciprocal tariffs taking effect Thursday or an additional 25% levy tied to India's Russian oil imports coming in three weeks.

Instead, iPhones and similar products will fall under a separate tariff regime yet to be finalized. This exemption comes as Apple revealed during its earnings call that most U.S.-bound iPhones now originate from Indian manufacturing facilities.

The tariff reprieve coincides with Apple's planned $100 billion U.S. manufacturing expansion, supplementing a previously announced $500 billion investment. The announcement follows criticism from former President Trump, who publicly challenged CEO Tim Cook about shifting production from China to India rather than America.
